What's your colour preference?

What i love about the design process is the discoveries my clients make about themselves and their lifestyles along the way. Our discussions revolve around their passions, how they live and what makes them happy. The focus is steered away from "what's in trend at the moment?" and "is this what i should do?".

To discover your own style, a great place to start is with colour. Put aside any thoughts you may have about what is "suitable" for your home and simply explore what colours make you happy and feel good. Different colours make us feel different things. Some shades resonate with us personally, based on childhood experiences and earlier memories. If you need some help, take a peak into your wardrobe. You may be surprised by the colours you find in there!

The colour indigo is present throughout my home. Its no surprise to me that this rich, moody, velvety shade of blue is a favourite of mine given how much I love to wear it and my obsession with the water! Whenever I see indigo it makes me feel calm & peaceful and captures my desire for the ocean. I love that it can do this to me. So naturally, I want to be surrounded by it; work, rest and play.

By following what I love, my home colour palette is timeless to me. This is how you should approach design in your home. Focus on what you love and how you want to feel in your space. Is it relaxed, energised, happy, safe, excited, motivated? Start with this overall feeling and it will help dictate the enduring foundations of your space.
