Vintage rugs in contemporary spaces.

I'm starting to notice a #trend... vintage rugs in modern spaces. The antique rug or kilim which we are more familiar with in older, period homes is in fact, creeping its way into modern spaces.

Why does this work? It's the contrast of mixing design styles (modern vs vintage) that creates an interesting place. It also allows you to introduce pattern and colour into an otherwise neutral setting. So you don't have to rely on cushions and throws to do the trick! I think the look is quite sophisticated but subtle - I'm personally loving it!

What do you think, do you like this mix of styles?
