I love the IDEA of camping. Being outdoors in the fresh air, away from our busy work schedules, emails, Instagram and every other distraction! In fact it almost sounds like a luxury now come to think of it. But then I think about spiders, cold showers and sleeping on the ground and I start to reconsider...
Back in high school, we attended many school camps. One year I vividly remember setting up my tent with my sleeping buddy... on top of an ant's nest... Hmmm not good. And a few year's ago, my husband and I decided to go on a camping trip through Kakadu National Park, falling victim to a plague of mosquito bites and waking up to feral pig noises...
So as I was saying, I do love the IDEA of camping... And then I discovered GLAMPING.
No, not a typo error. Seriously - its a word. In fact, its a style of accommodation that fuses the fuss free, simple sleeping arrangements of camping together with a little luxury. So when I recently heard about Happy Glamper, in the Mornington Peninsula, I thought... YES.
You pick the location along the coast and Happy Glamper will set up your luxury tent. It sounds pretty simple and a convenient way to camp. They also offer stays in vintage Airstream campervans too! So cool.
This style of camping has become widely popular in many places around the world. Following this revelation, I searched the web for other glamping options and I discovered Glamping Hub. This website offers world-wide alternative accommodation choices from luxury tents, caves, Eco-Pods and Igloos... Seriously amazing.
Glamping presents itself in a way that feels authentic, intimate and cosy to me. I can't help thinking colourful textiles & patterns, canvas tents, leather safari chairs and hot cocao. Hmmmmm.... So I put together the ultimate glamping moodboard! What do you think?
Whether or not camping (or glamping) is your style, a little touch of these accents in your home will keep things feeling outdoor-sy and interesting.
I think I may just have to reconsider another camping trip!
