Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stay in a hotel that felt more like a home? The big hotel names that once represented the epitome of stylish travel can now seem bland and impersonal... It's all about making your experience feel authentic and personal.
So when I heard about The Cullen in Melbourne (part of the Art Series Hotel Group) joining forces with Etsy Australia to create a curated accommodation experience, I knew we would see something innovative and intimate. I really love what the Art Series Hotel Group are offering in terms of boutique hotel accommodation. Each hotel, including The Cullen are inspired and dedicated to Australian artists who infuse their work throughout the hotel to create a truly at-inspired experience. The moment you step inside the hotel you are immersed in colour, character and charm. This is more than a hotel.
For two weeks, commencing 13 April 2015, you have the opportunity to stay in a one-of-a-kind junior penthouse suite at The Cullen, styled with local made products available from Etsy, the online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods.
The suite has been styled by creative duo Brooke Holm (who I previously interviewed on the blog here) and Marsha Golemac. With their combined talents, this room has come together to offer you comfort, colour and understated luxury in hotel accommodation.
The junior suite resembles nothing like typical hotel accommodation does it? In fact, it may easily pass as another room in your home. But this is certainly the beauty of it. Imagine hotel accommodation that makes you feel like you could live there forever? Give you a real chance to relax and unwind? This collaboration has understood and captured this concept perfectly. And last week I was invited by the team to explore, examine and discuss with Marsha & Brooke, their design concept and process in creating this space.
What was evident from all those who attended the event (including the Marsha and Brooke!) was the breadth of products available from Etsy. Who knew you could buy all this on Etsy?? In fact, the first question I asked was something like "So, everything in this suite is available on Etsy?!". And, to my surprise, the answer was yes!
While many of us may associate Etsy as the place to visit for small hand crafted pieces, let me tell you, we have been misguided. Etsy has A LOT more to offer, including: artwork, armchairs, outdoor furniture, lighting, dinnerware, bed linen and the list goes on... Etsy is the resource to help you decorate your home from start to finish.
You can view the entire range of products available at The Cullen, here.
Over the next few weeks I want to explore with you what I loved (and added to my wish list!) and how you can implement them in your home. But in the meantime, if you get a chance to grab a night at The Cullen and stay in the junior suite, please share the details! You can book a room here.
Otherwise, you can follow the experience at #etsyatthecullen.
